First Aid
First Aid is a 3 unit course designed for individuals whom wish to learn the skills & knowledge that are required to provide life saving first aid in a workplace setting, home or in the community. First Aid knowledge and abilities to assist and even save ones life, are skills that everyone must have. This extensive course includes:
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) based on Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines. CPR is compulsory for all workers who may be required to provide life saving CPR whether in community and workplace settings. This course includes defibrillation (AED) training.
This course also includes CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) HLTAID009 and Provide Basic Emergency Life Support HLTAID010 based on the ARC (Australian Resuscitation Council) guidelines.
HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support is designed to provide the skills and knowledge to respond to an emergency as well as to communicate the necessary details of the emergency situations to the others.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. This training is the minimum requirement for the workplace first aider. The unit covers different first aiding skills including responding to an emergency, applying appropriate first aid procedures, communicating details of the incident, and reviewing the incident.
The course is delivered by a qualified industry skilled trainer at our Western Sydney Skills Hub 410 Church St, Level 3, Suite 34, at North Parramatta

Prerequisites
Whilst there are no prerequisites for this course, it is expected that you have adequate language, literacy and numeracy skills and computer skills to be able to interact with peers, trainers and completing the theory assessment on line via MOODLE. You will also need to be physically fit enough to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR on the floor.
This course includes the following units of competency:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Delivery Strategies
The practical component of this course is delivered via face to face in a classroom environment with a qualified and skilled trainer. The theory must be completed on line via MOODLE prior to the practical class. Learning strategies include role play, demonstrations, lectures, and classroom activities etc. This First Aid course is 5 hours.
Assessment Strategies
The assessments involve a variety of activities including knowledge questions, demonstration of performance, and observations. All participants will be supported by our qualified and skilled team throughout their learning journey.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled class as late arrivals will not be admitted. Cost: Fee for service $175.00 NSW Government subsidy may be available for eligible participants when enrolling into the full qualification. On successful completion of the units, you will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment quoting the relevant units of competencies from above.
