Janani Madarpakkam Jayaraj
Resume
Janani is an architect whose love of design led to her passion for Origami and paper crafts.
Janani started her Origami journey in India, while studying for the Bachelors of Architecture. To give Janani a better understanding of the basics of design principles she was introduced to paper folding and cutting. One day in 2008, after a hectic day at work, Janani needed to unwind. It was then that Janani took up the art of Origami seriously, when she realised what a calming effect engaging both her mind and hands in this craft produced.
Soon Janani started her business, Treehangers, where she would use her Origami skills to make creative Christmas ornaments and custom designed party bags. Janani would spend her days designing spaces, and folding papers at night. Being plastic free these handmade party decorations use eco-friendly materials, but they are also durable, making them sustainable. Indeed, some clients have been using the Christmas ornaments for many years.
Eventually Janani started hosting Origami workshops so that others can also benefit from the mindfulness that engaging oneself in this craft produces.
It gives Janani great pleasure to be able to create such beautiful objects, which make her clients so happy. Furthermore, Janani is passionate about imparting her knowledge to others, so that she can use her talents to enrich others' lives, so they too can enjoy the creative and calming effect that making Origami brings.
