Alessandro Di Giacomo

Alessandro is of Italian background and has spent a lot time in Italy, including completing a Masters of Teaching Italian language to non-native speakers through the University of Perugia. In Italy, Alessandro completed a practicum in teaching Italian to Erasmus students as part of his Masters and received 29/30 as his total mark for the Masters course, which was conducted in Italian. Alessandro also worked in a hotel in Italy and completed an Italian language exam at the proficient user level and received 20/20 for the speaking component.

As well as tutoring overseas Alessandro has tutored for many years in Australia and currently works as a High School Teacher where he teaches both Italian and English ESL. As an ESL teacher, Alessandro has worked in private English schools, at university, in Intensive English Centres and in mainstream high schools, so he has taught all types of people of all different ages. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Studies and English Literature, and a Masters of Teaching in TESOL and Italian through the University of Sydney.

Alessandro is very enthusiastic, friendly and approachable, and is always looking at different ways of teaching and presenting information.

Amanda Dib is a qualified and experienced English and Creative Writing tutor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts/ Education, majoring in Literature and Drama with a sub-major in History.

As an English high school teacher and aspiring author, she brings a deep knowledge and understanding of literature, writing, creativity and the power of language to convey meaning. She takes a very hands on approach in her sessions to provide a comprehensive introduction to the craft and tradition of writing across many forms and genres.

Peter Dickison

Peter Dickison is a writer and editor with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing from Macquarie University, where he was a Merit Scholar, graduating with straight-High Distinctions and the Faculty of Arts Highest Achieving Student Commendation. He also completed the Writing major at the University of Newcastle, where he received a Faculty Commendation for Outstanding Academic Achievement and the Vice-Chancellor’s Honours Scholarship. Peter was shortlisted for the Monash Prize (2015), was a fiction editor of The Quarry journal, and his short fiction has appeared in literary journal Southerly. His particular academic interests are in the study of narrative, the novel, dramatic story structure, myth, commercial vs. literary fiction, Gothic fiction, genre fiction, and cognition of narrative space.

Peter has also been an officer in the Australian Army, professional photographer with The Network Agency, and staff writer at technology website bit-tech.net, with his photography and computer projects appearing in many publications including: Rolling Stone, Vogue, FHM, Max, Oyster, CPU, Atomic, Custom PC, Digital Hotrods, Forbes, The AFR, and on TV’s Mythbusters.

Manuel Diewald

Our new tutor, Manuel Diewald, will introduce you to the uplifting music that can be created on the guitar.

Manuel has been involved in music since he was young. Currently, Manuel is studying a Bachelor of Music at the University of New South Wales where he continues to learn more about music history, theory and take on an even more serious approach to his technical abilities. Manuel has also joined multiple guitar ensembles, one of which is the guitar ensemble from the University of New South Wales. The other is the Classical Guitar Society of Sydney (CGS ensemble). Manuel continuously develops his sight reading and musical abilities by taking part in the ensembles, learning from like-minded musicians. Manuel also passes on his own musical knowledge, as he has been teaching for the last 5 years.
